Northern Colorado

Love on a Leash®

The Northern Colorado chapter was established in July of 2024 and welcomes certified volunteer teams from Fort Collins to Greeley. The chapter coordinates a group visit each week at Union Colony Elementary School. Teams also visit other educational/learning facilities, libraries, and hospitals independently, while a few teams visit Meadowview and Life Care nursing homes on a regular basis. The chapter’s teams feel great joy in serving their communities and are passionate about making Colorado an even happier place to live. The Northern Colorado chapter of Love on a Leash® respects and appreciates the standards of excellence Love on a Leash® strives for with our incredible therapy pets and we take pride in demonstrating Love on a Leash’s trademark professionalism through furry love.

Laurette & Dottie

Meet Our Chapter Leader

Laurette Hoagland originally certified with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dottie, in San Diego, CA, in 2014, but then relocated to Colorado in 2017. Sadly, Dottie recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge after bringing joy to so many for a decade! Dottie loved mentoring new Love on a Leash® teams, and Laurette continues to honor Dottie's legacy after certifying with another Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Sugarplum, as well as her newest addition, Sury, an adorable Shih Tzu Mix. Laurette lives in Greeley with her husband Bob, their adult children and extended family. She is a retired Children's Pastor who enjoys being part of the fiber arts community in Colorado. When she is not weaving and spinning or volunteering with Love on a Leash®, Laurette enjoys exploring her new home state. Her favorite part about volunteering with Love on a Leash® is bringing comfort and joy to people and fulfillment to her teammates.
