Love on a Leash®

The Gold Country chapter of Love on a Leash® was established in January of 2013. We have regular visits at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, and libraries in the greater Sacramento area. We always welcome invitations to visit local nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, and schools; we also attend community events such as Barktoberfest, college stress-less events, local American Red Cross Crisis Shelters, SPCA educational programs, and the Sacramento Children’s Museum’s “Dogs with a Job.” Some of our teams enjoy volunteering at Kaiser and Shriners hospitals. Certified teams are also always welcome to visit independently or suggest new facilities and events for our teams to enjoy.

Meet Our Chapter Leader

Yvonne Telles became the chapter leader in November 2015. She was certified with her Border Collie/Lab mix Espresso since August 2013. Sadly Espresso crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 3/24/26 after almost 12 years and 1000s of visits. Yvonne is now training with a new dog to carry on Espresso's incredible pet therapy legacy. As a pediatric healthcare provider; when she isn’t working or volunteering with Love on a Leash®, Yvonne enjoys crafts, building projects, and walking her dogs. She and Espresso especially enjoyed their visits to seniors and children. Yvonne’s favorite part of volunteering with Love on a Leash® is helping teams become certified and successful in their pet therapy journey. Yvonne really encourages teams to find their niche where both human and pet love visiting.
