Jason Kirkland of Tupelo, Mississippi, has served as Chapter Leader for Love On A Leash Northeast Mississippi since July 2026. He likes to joke, “I was once normal, three Golden Retrievers ago.” His love for the breed began long before he brought home his first Golden, knowing from the start that he wanted to share that bond through pet therapy. Jason joined Love on a Leash in 2023 and currently has two certified pet therapy Goldens, Sir Leopold and Lady Elana. He is also working toward certifying his newest rescue Golden, Dame Lexi, so she can begin bringing comfort and smiles to those in need. Professionally, Jason is an accountant with Warner Bros. Studios. Working remotely allows him the flexibility to stay actively involved in his community and dedicate time to the causes he cares about most. In addition to pet therapy, he is passionate about supporting children diagnosed with cancer. He serves as Marketing Director and an overnight counselor for Camp Rising Sun, a nonprofit that provides a free summer camp experience for those who have battled childhood cancer. He also serves as Treasurer for the Children's Oncology Camping Association (COCA), supporting pediatric oncology camping programs throughout the United States and Canada. Jason's long-term dream is to retire early, start a Golden Retriever rescue and farm, and spend his days making the world a little brighter one wagging tail and one smile at a time.
