Love on a Leash®

Established on May 15, 2013, by Tina Losgar and Barbara Juliano, the Long Island chapter serves the communities of Suffolk and Nassau Counties. Now led by Theresa Schwarz, the chapter’s 101 dedicated volunteer teams share the comfort, love, and healing power of pet therapy with people across Long Island. Through their visits, the chapter continues to bring smiles, connection, and joy to those in need throughout the region.

Meet Our Chapter Leader

Theresa Schwarz has been a dedicated Love on a Leash® volunteer since 2016 and leads the Long Island chapter with compassion and enthusiasm. She shares the joy of pet therapy with her Golden Retriever, Koeppen, whose friendly and gentle spirit brightens every visit. Theresa’s leadership and commitment to the mission of Love on a Leash® inspires her fellow volunteers and helps strengthen the chapter’s positive impact across Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
